The mysterious Cabin Luv Affair continues to impress us, this time with the B2 Recordings released ‘Palmeiras 93’.
No idea who this is other than the much reported fact that it’s a regular releaser on the Cécille Records imprint. With a debut album already under their belt and releases on Dog With A Bone, Cabriolet Recordings and True Romance, it’s fair to say that this hidden figure is pulling out some fancy moves.
This new EP on one of our favourite labels B2 Recordings entitled ‘Palmeiras 93’ is a collection of four deep, jazzy grooves, that are right up our street. Opening with ‘Behind Red Curtains’ which is a sensual, seductive type of House groove. Hissing hats, erotic murmurs, ethereal keys and oozy bass lines all combine to bring a real deep number. ‘Palmeiras 93’ is a free spirited, latin-esque groove with cool bass lines, skipping drum lines and funky organ melodies. ‘Look I Told You’ is a perfect summer terrace groove with soulful vocals, chugging bass lines and a nice juxtaposed toughness in the drums against silky piano lines. ‘Not Afraid About This’ closes the EP with it’s classy House arrangement that brings jazz, house and soul all together in a beautiful rhythmic excursion.
