The popular underground mainstay Cinthie offers three effective and emotive house weapons on AUS Music this December.

AUS Music and Cinthie are two names identified by the same two words: consistency and quality. The former is in the process of clocking up the killer achievement of 200 releases since starting way back in 2006, celebrating with four EPs from different artists.

Berlin-based Cinthie steps up to the plater on the third with three tracks of glorious quality. ‘I Warned You Baby’ is warm, rolling, deep house with that timeless New Jersey vibe of lush chords, spoken word and snapping percussion. ‘What’s Poppin’ is more energetic, slowly building from a fairly innocuous opening to a track that bubbles on the edge of rave nirvana without ever fully embracing it. It’s the sort of record only a really good DJ could create; the old-skool stabs give it enough menace to pick up the pace but leave the atmosphere on a knife edge, ready for the record that follows to plunge the dancefloor into a hedonistic blur.

Conveniently enough, the EP’s other track fits the bill. As the title suggests, ‘Rave Baby’ is a delirious slab of feel-good bliss. Borderline silly piano line? Check. Female vocal almost incoherently saying “talk to me”? Of course. It’s a well-worn formula and, in the wrong hands, cheesy and throwaway, but Cinthie’s sharp production, particularly the neat percussion and effortless transitions, keeps it together. With NYE around the corner, it’s a record ravers of every age could easily fall in love with.
