Juxtaposed sounds make up Barbara Boeing’s return to Toy Tonics with her ‘Memoir’ EP this November.

Milan-based DJ/producer Barbara Boeing‘s latest EP, her second for Toy Tonics, is a memoir of sorts. It boasts two key inspirations: her love of 1980s and ’90s dancefloor sounds, and the influences she absorbed during her tours in Asia. Stump Valley lend a hand on EP opener ‘Mar Dei Sargassi’, a genuinely gorgeous chunk of tactile, slowly building Italo-house perfection rich in spell-binding pads, echo-laden sax solos and picturesque synth melodies, before Boeing opts for percussive bounce, 21st century Brazilian pop sounds and more sun-kissed lead lines on ‘Pantelleria’. Boing and Sam Ruffillo join the dots between proto-house, early acid house and Japanese city pop on EP highlight ‘Tokyo’s Love Affair’, while closing cut ‘NoLo’s Awakening’ sees the Brazilian producer once again dive enthusiastically into early 90s Italian house territory.

The ‘Memoir’ EP drops on Toy Tonics from November 8th, 2024. Pre order here.
