Switzerland’s APRH boss DimSum delivers his new EP ‘Stars In Your Eyes’ via Milano based My Cup Of Tea imprint mid-July.
Following on from releases on the likes of Hapiness Therapy, DJ Steaw’s House Puff and of course his own APRH (Addictive Pleasure Real Healing) Records, the Geneva, Switzerland based DimSum continues to take huge strides in his career with yet more swinging House grooves on the ‘Stars In Your Eyes’ EP. This three-tracker is a heartfelt dedication to his girlfriend, whose unwavering support has been instrumental since the inception of his musical journey. Reflecting the depth and dynamics of their relationship, the EP is a seamless blend of deep, funky, and entertaining sounds that aspire to be timeless.
Opening the EP, “My Cutie” is a smooth deep house track that perfectly sets the tone, incorporating meticulously chopped samples from an unreleased 90s R&B track, layered West Coast G-Funk leads. Title-track ‘Stars in Your Eyes’ follows with sharp, crisp drums, deep chords, a bouncy bassline, and a vocal sample from a cover band’s rendition of Herbie Hancock’s classic track of the same name.
On the B-side, DimSum collaborates with long-time friend Retromigration for ‘Everyday in Your Mind’, inspired by the West Coast the track showcases Retro’s distinctive touch on the leads and rhythmics, complemented by DimSum’s signature funkiness. The result is a rich, textured soundscape that offers a perfect blend of both artists’ styles.
