Jazz-funk, broken beat, afro and boogie all combine when Sam Ruffillo and Kapote came together for the ‘Robot Salsa’ EP out on Toy Tonics this June.

Upcoming talent Sam Ruffillo is a Bologna-based producer with previous releases/remixes on toucan, Phantasma and Boogie Cafe to name but a few. For this new release he has joined with Toy Tonics co-owner Kapote. Some may say Kapote helped the lies of COEO, WhoMadeWho, Phenomenal Handclap Band, Mangabey and Black Loops all fine their way in the music scene whilst releasing his own quality music on the Berlin-based label.

This new EP ‘Robot Salsa’ opens with ‘Rico Suave’ a deep throbbing, latin-flavoured bumper. Plenty of carnival vibes with the percussive layers and the vocal, well what can we say except “Rico Sauaveeeeee”. ‘La La Tune’ brings things back to the classic House sound with it cool piano lines, swinging bass licks and nice male vocal ad-libs. ‘Don’t Stop’ is a really party groover with it’s flutes, organ stabs and cool boogie rhythms.

All together another great release from Toy Tonics and a continued supportive light for talents like Sam Ruffillo.

The ‘Robot Salsa’ EP is out on Toy Tonics from 28/06/24 pre order here.
