Duo Those Guys From Athens bring four tidy disco-laced grooves to B2 Recordings this June in the form of the ‘Be What You Wanna Be’ EP.
Since 2020 the Greek coupling of DJ Snatch & Blacksoul that make up Those Guys From Athens have been making waves in the nu-disco, funk and house circles. Releases on labels like Midnight Riot and How Do You Are?/Too Slow To Disco have all provided a solid start to the duo’s discography and now they land on the cool B2 Recordings.
Originally released on 12″ and pretty much sold out the firs pressing, the ‘Be What You Wanna Be’ EP is ready for its digital release this June. Opening with the title-track, the sound is a funk-filled affair. Horns, string bass and delicious brass all combine to create grooving piece of summer beauty. ‘That’s What I’ve Gotta Do’ samples a famous track, an instantly catchy vocal takes us on a disco journey, cool filters, nice loops, winner for us. ‘Wish You Were Here With Me’ is a more soul-influenced track with a laid back stepping groove. Sampling Bill Withers, you know this one is going to bring the goods. ‘Feelin’ rounds up the EP with more funky bass line driven loops. Perfect early tackle for them summer disco sets.
