Detroit-based House guru Theo Parrish has parted ways with two of his secret edits to make up the ‘Lovely Edits Vol.1’ release.

Born in Washington, raised in Chicago and now based in Detroit, Theo Parrish was inspired by all the greats from a young age, Miles Davis, Stevie Wonder, Jimi Hendrix, Nina Simone, George Gershwin, Bob Marley, as well as his uncle, jazz musician Dexter Sims. So it’s hardly surprising the veteran American artist forged a career within the musical landscape that was his formative years.

From the late 80’s and under the now electronic influence of the likes of Ron Hardy , Larry Heard, Lil Louis, Farley Jackmaster Funk, Gene Hunt , Mike Dunn, Frankie Knuckles , Walter Get Down Brown and Andre Hatchett, Parrish set out to dominate dance floors as both DJ and later as a producer.

Releases on labels like Peacefrog, Sound Signature, Running Back and Moods & Grooves all found Theo’s unique deep, downtempo electronica to their liking and cemented the sound and vibe of Theo Parrish’s “blues-like house”.

This new edit release is made up of two tracks. First it the 1975 protest track ‘Peace Pipe’ by BT Express. This funky rhythmic number sounds as raw and energetic as it did back then and then there is a very cool edit of George Duke’s 1979, a true soul infused piece of delicious groove.

The double a-sided release is out on Lovely Edits from June 3rd, 2024. Pre order here.
