The funky laid back grooves of Felipe Gordon return to UK champions Shall Not Fade with an EP entitled ‘My Legs Are Numb’.
The producer, multi-instrumentalist, label head and Dj, Felipe Gordon returns to Bristol-based movement Shall Not Fade this May, also being his seventh release on the label. The EP ‘My Legs Are Numb’ EP contains four jazz infused House cuts that dance the genre lines beautifully.
Effortlessly fusing complex sound combinations from Jazz samples to flowing pianos and acid bass lines into hugely exciting and unique house records, Gordon has already released on labels like Toy Tonics, Razor N Tape and Lost Palms and the Colombian is hotter than ever right now.
‘Sander’s Journey’ is a loose, jazzy number with disco undertones. Building lovely with airy sythns and scathing hats, the bass is a rubbery ball of groove, driving the track as it opens into a futuristic boogie down sound. Throw in some cool whistling melodies, and a razor-like lead and you’ve got a proper funk machine on your hands. The title-track is a moody, bass-led number that’s been likened to a Moodymann sort of vibe. Love the 80’s type synth work on this one. ‘Do You Ever Miss Me’ is a head down, late night groover with swinging bass lines, stabby synths and cool sax melodies. ‘A Perfectly Calmed Felipe’ closes the EP with it’s typical Felipe jazz fusions, modern day-post jazz nu funk, is that a thing?
The ‘My Legs Are Numb’ EP is out on Shall Not Fade from May 17th, 2024. Pre order here.
