Disco Express boss Bustin’ Loose returns home for the ‘The Link Up’ EP and throws a light on the late Marlena Shaw.
The London-based label that started out as a party, The Disco Express has become a goto name for Disco lovers the world over. From Barbara Tucker, John Morales, The Reflex, Art Of Tones to Dave Lee, everyone has produced the goods for the funky label.
Bustin’ Loose has had releases on Toy Tonics, Whiskey Disco, Roux, Fresh Take as well as on his own label. He has supported Dimitri From Paris, Late Nite Tuff Guy, Crazy P, Etienne De Crécy, Mr Scruff, Moodymann with his sets journeying through vintage disco, uplifting house and funk-infused grooves.
This new EP opens up with the Magnolia co-produced ‘Paradise’. Deep, lush chords, Chic-styled guitars and a Dua Lipa sounding vocal all combine to make this easy disco groove that would work on commercial radio and easy going dance floors. ‘Party People’ is another collaboration, this time with Soundsmith. Pumping drums, tight bass lines, Barry White styled vocal and a cool xylophone solo make this a winner. ‘Marlena’ is a tribute to the late Marlena Shaw. No words for this one, just pure Disco bliss with a hint of sadness. ‘All My Love’ rounds off the EP with it’s catchy guitar hooks, disco strings and bulbous bass tones that are straight out of funky town.
‘The Link Up’ EP is out on The Disco Express from January 26th, 2024. Pre order here.
