UK producer Mark E returns to Jimpster’s Delusions of Grandeur with the ‘Enchantment Under The Sea’ EP.

Raised in the West Midlands of the UK, Mark E founded his love for electronic music at the time of the early House music scene broke into the UK. His passion for the sound led him to become a DJ/producer and in the early 00’s Mark started releasing his own productions after a slew of viable edits were released.

With releases on top labels like Running Back, Sonar Kollektiv, NeedWant and his own Merc label, and praise from the likes of revered Radio 1’s Giles Peterson, this new EP on Jimpster’s Delusions of Grandeur required our devout attention.

The EP opens with the title-track which is a deep, murky groove laden with watery pads and low-slung bass tones that are juxtaposed by sharp, stinging hat rhythms. ‘Zone Tonight’ is a lo-fi House affair with distorted drum kicks, pitched synths and growling bass tones. Nice string work joins the party later as does brighter, melodic synth stabs. ‘Vertigo’ is a interesting sound, heading deep into the chasms of groove, the scattered percussive pattern drives the track whilst warm Rhodes keys and some sort of Juno keyboard lays down rich orchestral strings, this is a nice analogue vs digital sounding track that carries a lovely warmth. ‘Bodymap’ closes the EP with a late-night affair. Driven by airy pads, spluttering bass tones and top-percussive led rhythms, the track explodes into action when the key melodies spill onto the track, transporting us back to an earlier period for House music.

The ‘Enchantment Under The Sea’ EP is out on Delusions of Grandeur from November 24th as a vinyl release and digital from December 1st. Pre order here.
