The Acid Jerks project returns this November with four-tracks of classic Acid House grooves on Swedish label Local Talk.

The mysterious Acid Jerks are bringing the Acid House sound back to us once again. Following on from releases on labels like Music For Freaks, Refuge Records and Nu Groove, the pair have now landed on Mad Mats and Tooli‘s Local Talk. The Swedish label has been home to the likes of Crackazat, Jamie 3:26, Opolopo and DJ Duke and now these Acid foremen are here to bring their hypnotic sounds.

The EP opens with the title-track ‘Shades of Grey’ which engulfs us straight away with rich string washes, hurtling synth stabs and  a classic 4/4 drum group. ‘Wheels Of Fortune’ instantly takes you back to Mr Fingers with that classic synth riff, searing top string lines and a rugged, chunky Acid kick from an 808 or 909. ‘Rise Up’ is a straight up analogue bruiser with its plunging synths, excitable percussive hits and rich Juno-styled pads. ‘Ace of Spade” is a real Acid groover with 303 warbles, 808 drum hits and some cool Jet effect synths.

Overall this is an exciting nod to the old school from the Acid Jerks and one to definitely worth checking out.
