In a move that has stunned Ibiza’s clubbing community, legendary superclub Space Ibiza is making an unexpected return – and not in its old Playa d’en Bossa home, but in the heart of San Antonio at the former site of Club Extasis. The announcement, made earlier today, has sent shockwaves across the electronic music world, sparking both excitement and disbelief.
The Unexpected Comeback
For years, fans of Space have been clamoring for its resurrection following its closure in 2016. The whispers of its return have been endless, but no one could have predicted this shocking twist. Sources close to the project claim that Space boss Pepe Roselló has been in secret negotiations with San Antonio officials to secure the iconic but long-forgotten Extasis building, once infamous for its wild foam parties and all-night revelry in the early 90’s.
Speaking exclusively to Ibiza Beat News, Roselló stated, “We wanted to return in a way that no one expected. Space is about the music, the people, and the energy – not just the location. San Antonio is ready for a renaissance, and we want to be a part of it.”
A Reinvention of the Classic Space Experience
The new venue, tentatively named “Space Extasis”, is rumored to feature three rooms, an expansive outdoor terrace, and even a rooftop dancefloor with views over San Antonio Bay. Long-time Space residents such as Carl Cox, Sasha, and Steve Lawler are said to be involved, ensuring that the essence of Space remains intact.
To honor the history of Extasis, organizers have teased a revival of some of its legendary features – including the return of Ibiza’s biggest foam party, albeit with biodegradable, organic foam (it’s 2025, after all). Insiders also hint at a weekly “We Love Sundays” relaunch, blending classic Space vibes with a fresh San Antonio twist.
Industry Reactions
The news has already divided Ibiza’s clubbing veterans. Some see the move as a genius reinvention, while others argue that Space belongs nowhere but its original Playa d’en Bossa home. DJ Pippi, one of the pioneers of Balearic beats, commented, “Extasis was the wild west of Ibiza back in the day. If Space can bring back that crazy energy but with modern production, this could be something special.”
However, not everyone is convinced. A rival club owner, speaking on condition of anonymity, scoffed, “San Antonio is great for sunsets and pre-drinks, but a club like Space? It’s like putting a Michelin-star restaurant in a fast-food joint.”
With the first night reportedly set for June 31st, eager ravers have already started planning their Ibiza trips. Get more information here.
