British House producer Jimpster lands on the re-birthed Nu Groove Records this March with the deliciously deep ‘The Phoenix’ EP.

The Freerange and Delusions Of Grandeur head is a revered name in the house music scene especially in the UK. Real name Jamie Odell, Jimpster has released music on nearly every decent record label over the last couple of decades. Defected, Slip N Slide, Z Records, Razor N Tape… the list goes on. Now he turns his hand to the Defected Records owned Nu Groove Records, a classic stalwart label in the 90’s and true purveyors of deep house music.

‘The Phoenix’ opens with the title-track which is a warm analogue sound full of rich bulbous bass tones, electronic string synths and airy bright leads that add electrifying spikes to this otherwise head down deep groove. ‘Lightening In Me’ is a cool, head nodder full of superb skipping drum sequences, delicious organ chords and stabby leads. Oliver Night’s vocals on this one are really complimentary, soulful and tuneful, they land perfectly. ‘Beat Of An Era’ is an early morning synth ride perfect for them sun rise moments, especially when them colourful piano lines ring out. ‘You Got My Love’ took us straight back to an early 90’s US deep house place. Probably one of our favourite vocal house grooves we’ve heard in a minute.

Jimpster’s ‘The Phoenix’ EP is out on Nu Groove from March 14th, 2025. Pre order here.
