Nightmares On Wax marks 7th anniversary of his sublime ‘Shape the Future’ LP with a new set of remixes.

January 2025 marks seven years since Nightmares On Wax released his eighth studio album ‘Shape The Future’. It reached the Top 20 of the UK album charts and was another signature work from the UK producer, blending dub, soul, funk and electronica into rich and immersive downtempo bliss. ‘Typical’ featuring the exalted vocals of Australian soul boy Jordan Rakei was a high point on the album and one of the most streamed tracks; now it arrives in three remixed versions.

Children of Zeus, aka MCs and beat makers Konny Kon and Tyler Daley, are UK hip-hop and soul dons with a run of acclaimed albums behind them. Their remix flips the drums into a dusty, downtempo hip-hop groove with all-new and sultry bars and sensuous late-night chords that melt the heart.

Chris “Mu” Faiumu, aka DJ Fitchie, is the founder of New Zealand’s legendary dub, reggae, soul, jazz and r&b outfit Fat Freddy’s Drop. Internationally renowned for their live shows and jam sessions, they have won numerous awards for their albums over the last 20+ years. He flips ‘Typical’ into a jungle workout with crisp breaks and punchy bass. Rakei’s vocals ride up top to keep a soulful edge to this cultured banger.

Last but not least is Rick Ride from cult Swedish synth-pop, downtempo and electro-indie band Little Dragon. He reworks the original into a laidback and blissed-out affair with noodling guitar lines, soulful keys and meandering bass. It’s a slow-motion but funky sound, with well-treated vocals providing the perfect finish.

Nightmares On Wax’s ‘Typical Remixes’ comes on Warp Records on January 22nd 2025. Pre order here.
