Office loiterer Clive From Accounts is set to drop his ‘Very Best Of’ LP on Razor N Tape this February and of course it’s majestic.

The mysterious figure of Clive From Accounts has us dreaming of a slick David Brent type of character, who can be caught in the stationery cupboard on his break, melting breaks, house and disco on his Atari ST emulator. Of course, it’s not, is it? We don’t think so or do we?

Anyway, hailing from Holloway in London and now live in Finsbury Park, Clive real name Richard Day is an artist of enormous quality. Influenced by the likes of Pete Rock, Matthew Herbert & Roni Size, Clive has been on our radar since 2018’s ‘Uno’. Further releases on Dirt Crew, Fouk’s Outplay label, his own label Income Trax and of course Razor N Tape have all cemented Clive’s idea of a melting pot of styles, thus winning over the hearts of many underground selectors.

This new release ‘The Very Best Of Clive From Accounts’ is an expansive collection of ten tracks. From the steady groove of the opener ‘It Began’ that soars with a juxtaposed sound of flutes, sitars and plunging bass lines to the next track ‘Save Me’ which is a Bicep-sounding expansive journey through synths and broken beats. ‘Ambika’ takes us on a high octane journey of chopped up almost French touch grooves, whilst ‘Heavier’ with Riko Dann is a funky UK placed sound. ‘E-Magik’ is one of our favourites. Dare we cite Daft Punk as a soundalike but yeah this chopped up disco groover is so nice. ‘All That Matters’ flips the tempo into a funky hip-hop cut that features Kipp Stone. ‘Did You See’ is back to 125bpm ish tempo with ethereal synths, obscure vocal samples and beautiful string arrangements. The underpinned stepping bass line really catches the ear on this one. ‘Konsumu Suru’ is an odd melancholic Japanese influence sound. Best listened to at 3am lost in a neon city, this would be perfect for a Bladerunner type movie. ‘Economy Of Motion’ is another Hip-Hop track and ‘Spectrum’ brings the LP to a close with a Logical Progression/Danny Baker type ode. A liquid Drum N Bass monster that is just bloody brilliant.

Overall this ‘Best Of’ is a fantastic collection of work from Clive From Accounts and offers up so many artistic twist and turns, you’ll need a London street map to navigate.
