Our 2025 campaign kicks off with Orlando Voorn & Amsterdam Flutist, Han Litz and their next release, the ‘What I Love’ EP.

In the vast, ever-evolving world of electronic music, few artists possess the longevity and versatility of Orlando Voorn. A Dutch techno icon with deep roots in Detroit’s sound and a history of groundbreaking collaborations (Kevin Saunderson, Juan Atkins, and Amp Fiddler to name a few), Voorn has consistently been able to merge the best of both worlds: the raw energy of techno and the soulfulness of house music. His latest collaboration, What I Love on Universo Positivo, is a stunning example of his continued evolution as an artist, and his pairing with jazz and flute maestro Han Litz proves to be a match made in musical heaven.

The EP opens with the title track, What I Love (Original Mix), a beautifully languid piece that blends house rhythms with jazzy swing beats. The groove is laid-back yet soulful, evoking a timeless vibe that’s both easy to dance to and easy to get lost in. Litz’s flute flourishes add a delicate touch, infusing the track with a sense of spirituality and depth, while Voorn’s signature vocal lines provide a grounding force. The blend of jazz, house, and soulful vocals gives the track an almost meditative quality, making it feel as much like a mood piece as a dancefloor anthem.

For those craving a deeper, more instrumental interpretation, the Soulfood Mix takes the Original Mix and fattens it out. The groove becomes more pronounced, and Litz’s flute takes on an even more prominent role, its ethereal tones gliding seamlessly over the smooth bassline. The track is lush, seductive, and effortlessly cool, providing a perfect soundtrack for those late-night moments of reflection or dancing under dimmed lights.

On the flip side, Composers delivers a change of pace with a return to Voorn’s roots in deep house. This track is driven by a rolling bassline, subtle percussion, and a hypnotic rhythm that will keep the dancefloor moving well into the early hours. Voorn’s mastery of the deep house sound is evident here, with his signature loops and meditative sequences taking center stage. It’s a perfect moment of introspection on the dancefloor, where the groove carries you through with its understated intensity.

The Composers (Downtempo) refix slows things down even further, taking the driving energy of the original and transforming it into a heavier, more contemplative piece. The result is a deeply atmospheric track that retains the original’s hypnotic quality while allowing the listener to fully immerse themselves in its rich, textured layers.

From start to finish, What I Love is a masterclass in groove, soul, and musical synergy. Voorn’s impeccable production is elevated by Litz’s sublime flute work, and together they create a truly unique listening experience. Whether you’re a DJ, a dancer, or simply a lover of expertly crafted, genre-defying music, this EP is a treasure trove of toe-tapping, head-nodding goodness. It’s a release that showcases Voorn’s continued relevance as a maverick of the scene, blending the familiar with the innovative in a way that only he can.

In the world of electronic music, it’s rare to come across a release that feels as both timeless and fresh as What I Love. For anyone in search of grooves that captivate, rhythms that elevate, and melodies that linger long after the music has stopped, this EP is essential listening. A fitting way to start the year, it’s a release that promises to remain on heavy rotation for months to come.

The ‘What I Love’ EP is out from January 17th, 2025. Pre order here.
