Londoner Enzo Is Burning returns to the KOTT pages with his tech/minimal take on the classic Underworld track ‘Born Slippy’.
Now before you all go, “oh god not another one”, take a moment to listen to the track. Enzo Is Burning has been making some real noise over the last year or so. His bootlegs of tracks from Jamiroquai, Aaliyah, Sade and more have made the London-based producer hot property as of late and with the likes of Defected all sniffing around the hotshot, its looking bright for Enzo.
This new release ‘Dive Boy (Born Slippy)’ is a minimal, tech house version/edit/remix of the 1996 Underworld classic. After being sampled in over 30 tracks, there is an air of is it one too many? But, alas this one took our fancy. Driven by cool, rolling bass lines that are bulbous, cavernous in sound. Of course the originals synth lines are gloriously hung out to capture the minds of all listening. Enzo almost celebrates the original and that’s what we like. There is enough switch up the groove from the original and yeah it doesn’t blow any minds but it’s a workable 2024 version that certainly brings the track to a new plethora of ears, yeah we like it. Big up Enzo.
