French producer Yann Polewka has readied this four-track EP ‘XTC’ on German label Disco Disco.
Hailing from Rennes, France, Yann Polewka may be a new name to some of you. But with over a decade of release history on labels like Roots For Bloom, Cardiology, Ravanelli Disco Club and GLBDOM, you can see why he fits our bill easily! Each of them labels we have covered and Yann is definitely very much on our radar going forward.
The ‘XTC’ EP opens with ‘L.O.V.E.’ a stabby piano groove with a murmured love-torn vocal and a classic 90’s house arrangement. ‘The House Sound’ circles around a famous sample and a cool jazzy vibraphone melody. ‘XTC’ is a later peak time type of groove with plunging chords, bulbous bass tones and repetitive female Vox samples. ‘Koba La Drum’ throws in a twist with it’s easy opening that exploded into a rhythmic drum & bass groove that’s very easy on the ear.
