Dez Andrés continues his meander through his edit productions and gives us volume three of ‘GT Flips’.
A staple of the Detroit scene, Humberto Hernández is the real name behind many of his guises including the release were talking about today under his Andrés moniker. Most known maybe for his 2012 track “New For U”, Andrés has been a a force in both House and Hip-Hop. Supported by the likes of the late Amp Fiddler and Moodymann, the veteran artist is continually putting our both fresh and exciting releases.
The ‘GT FLIPS 3’ opens up with the slick beat ‘Boogie’ which brings cool vibes to a funky broken beat laden with computerised whistles and fiery top percussion whilst anchored by lamented synth strings. ‘Maxin’ drops the tempo into a smooth, seductive vibe with the word ‘Andres’ oozed by both male and female vocals. ‘Talking’ brings the real treat as it takes Talking Heads’ 1980 hit ‘Once In A Lifetime’ into a deep house territory with cool brass riffs, bulbous bass tones and delicate piano lines. Bravo for this one!
