Chicago deep house connoisseur Vick Lavender lands on Berlin party starters Mister Bear this September with the ‘Essance’ EP.
A figurehead in the Chicago house scene, Vick Lavender since the 80’s has been planting deliciously deep roots with his musical prowess. Appearing on esteemed labels like Local Talk, MATE, Ocha Records and his own Sophisticado Recordings, Vick has been garnering the attention of many including long time friends Glenn Underground, Gene Hunt and Brian Harden.
This new EP on Mister Bear is superb. Opening with the chugging, deep joint ‘Move’ that has cool piano lines, spaced out textures and low slung bass lines. ‘Change’ is a wide, spacious sound that falls to earth with its jazz pianos and easy bass lines. ‘Daylight’ is a classic US Garage vibe with its skippy beats, soul-drenched female vocal and captivation organ riffs. ‘Somebodies Samba’ is a loose, latin-flavoured groove that drops the bpm but ups the coolness!
The ‘Essance’ EP is out on Mister Bear from September 23rd, 2024. Pre order here.
