Tete de la Course returns to DROP Dance Society with ‘True’, a warm and soulful House groove with Mandy Jones on vocals.
Labels like Soulfuric, Nervous, Snatch! Records and Dikso have all released music from the Spanish producer Tête de la Course over the last couple of years. His sound is warm, enticing and easy to listen to. After moving to New York, Tête moved in the right circles, joining sessions with the likes of Spinna and Joeski, before heading back to his Native Spain and landing in Barcelona where he was soon playing at parties at Razzmatazz, DROP and La Terrrazza.
‘True’ is a warm, ode to summer. Grooving along at an easy BPM, the track is reminiscent of that smooth garage-house crossovers in the late 90’s, think Nu Colours that sort of vibe. US vocalist Mandy Jones delivers a beautiful vocal for this one. Could have been a good fit for Glitterbox but lucky for DROP Dance Society they got in first, quickly following up from Tete’s ‘The Light’ release.
On the flip is is the club mix. Pushing the tempo up, the track loses some of its charm and feels forced. Big organ lines sounds pretty whilst the vocal gets chopped and refitted back into the pacer 4/4 groove. There is a cool breakdown that made us think of Blessed Madonna’s ‘Lost Dancing’ speech. The original mix for us everyday.
‘The Light’ by Tête de la Course is out on June 21st, 2024. Upfront promo on Traxsource here.
