Unleashed funky disco from Moodena lands this June on Tropical Disco Records and it contains a message, ‘Moodena’s Message’.
One of the most influential names in Nu Disco/Disco House especially in the UK, Moodena is a favourite of ours not only as a producer but as a DJ and human. Co-founder of the hugely influential MN2S, Moodena has been working hard in the music scene for a couple of decades now and with the springboard that was 2018 for Moodena, he has gained and deservedly all the plaudits from his peers and the electronic music scene as a whole.
Landing in June on his co-run label alongside Sartorial, Tropical Disco Records is a perfect home for Moodena. With names like Last Days of Pompeii, Jay Caruso, C. Da Afro and Fingerman playing a part in the labels discography alongside many more, the message is clear (see what we did), this label knows what it likes and it likes what it knows.
‘Moodena’s Message’ is a a charming, disco/funk influenced groove with loads of flavourful piano melodies, nice vocal chops that sound like they’re pulled straight from a Paradis Garage dance floor. The bass line is incessant, buried underneath the shuffling percussive hits and a rubbery kicks that navigate the track, but when that soprano sax drops were in Philly heaven.
