Old school lover St. David lands on Chiwax this May with a beauty of an EP named ‘Essential Grooves’.
Italian producer Davide Disanto who goes by St. David is a Bari-born house head with a keen eye on bringing back the old school jackin’ sound of house. He also runs his own label Theory of Swing Records and has released on labels like Groovin’, Snatch! Records and Jackies Music.
This new EP on Chiwax is a four track EP mixing deep house, disco, acid and jazz. ‘The Groove Goes On’ is a tough yet groovy number with a Paul Johnson sort of vibe. Nice piano refrains, low slung bass lines and some cool analogue drum hits come together for this all out funk affair. ‘Summer Nights Fall’ is a glockenspiel-led groover with moving bass lines and electrified synth melodies, very 90’s MAW. ‘Tech No Pease’ is an acid tinged house roller with plenty of 303 squelches and whirring pad sparkles. ‘A Touch Of Jazz’ rounds off the EP with what it says on the tin. Loose grooves with loads of instrumentation layers, love the piano on this one.
