Michael Gray delivers a modern disco interpretation of the classic Jamiroquai anthem ‘Space Cowboy’ this month on Sultra Records.
Gray is a one of the UK’s most prominent remix/production artists. Covering the last three decades, Michael whether as a solo artist or part of the award-winning Full Intention duo has remixed the likes of Cee Lo Green, Sterling Void, Sylvester, Chanelle and many more. His track ‘Weekend’ is probably his biggest success to date and with a plethora of anthems under Full Intention, when you see his name you know it’s probably going to be worth checking out!
This new remix of ‘Space Cowboy’ is one of them moments when you see it, you think “ooh I don’t know about that!”. Obviously the David Morales remix is cemented into the history of the song and to date nothing has ever touched it. This new remix by Gray though takes the track in another direction. Keeping the original funk, soul undertones of Jamiroquai, he takes us on a 122 bpm ride of funky disco rhythms laden with hi-pitched synths, a soul oozing chord melody and groovy drum pattern that sits relaxed allowing the emphasis on Jay Kay’s vocal and new worked bass line to do it’s thing. A nice alternative to the dance floor classic we all know and love.
