Jamie Odell’s deep house alter ego Jimpster is back on his own Freerange label with ‘The Passion’ featuring a Atjazz remix.
Known for his love of Chicago house, Detroit techno, soul and Jazz, Jimspter is a figure you can always rely on when looking for true, quality house music. Coming from a musical family, his father a drummer, his sisters are singers, you can probably say it was written in the stars that Jamie would end up in music, somehow. Since the late 90’s Odell’s alias Jimpster has been prolific in the studio, although mainly releasing on his own Freerange label he co-runs with Tom Roberts, the British talent has also released on the likes of Foliage with Rich Medina, Soundofspeed and Instinct Records, that one way back in the day!
This new EP ‘The Passion’ is a real classy affair. ‘You’re My Ecstacy’ is a soulful, deep groove with layered textures of atmospheric keys and a stunning male vocal. ‘The Passion’ features King Crowney the Londoner trumpet player/producer. This is a swinging deep groove with nice piano melodies, cool horn licks and breathy pad stabs. Atjazz delivers a more prominent tech-jazz remix of ‘The Passion’. Lush organ chords, lit, dancing synths fire off around the bulbous bass tones, this one has a floor ready groove for sure.
