Hyperkinetic talent Elliot Adamson has just released nine contrasting tracks via his Bandcamp page, super heaters all of them.
Elliot Adamson is back on our office stereo, following on from his old school Detroit-Acid styled ‘Stay Still Don’t Stop’ he released back in January 2024. Our connection with Elliot goes way back to the north-east hotshots explosive start to his musical career. Hailing from Houghton-le-Spring, now based out of Newcastle with stints in London to flavour, the raw talent of Adamson is a dark maddening juxtaposed with radiant, colourful flares of poetic, theoretical thought. His music is a output for Adamson’s contemplations, and with this new series of tracks, you can feel that northerner is still smitten with music.
Elliot’s discography touches names like Nervous Records, Eats Everything’s Edible, Man Power’s Me Me Me, Patrick Topping’s Trick (who Elliot once once a A&R for) and He.She.They the inclusive label, something Elliot has championed in the past. Fresh from his Australia tour and touched by heartbreak, Adamson seems to have returned home full of musical visualisations and ‘Where Ya Woman At?’ is the first act of what we think is going to be Adamson’s biggest year to date.
The release is made up of nine tracks. The title-track is a super smooth groove with stunning vocal samples and perfectly looped guitar licks. Adamson’s edit of “Say A Little Prayer” is a real pleasure, keeping the groove elements of the track, it feels like a new track but with a friendly hand on the shoulder. A personal favourite is this outrageous edit of Bon Iver and James Blake’s ‘Forest Fire’, one of our favourite tracks of the English songwriter. It’s like a 7am ride into nonsensicalness, deep into thought with the aid of a bottle of booze. Genius. The edit of ‘Love & Happiness’ is a track that will be straight in our bag for gigs. It’s the kin dog track that insists you move, gorgeous vocals, thumping kicks, brass, organs, the original is pimped out and we dig it.
