St. David returns to Riva Starr’s ‘Snatch! Records’ with the tough, grooving ‘Housewerk’ EP, available this March.
Italian producer St.David is name frequented by many since his debut in 2017. Labels like Politics of Dancing, Groovin, Happiness Therapy and his own Theory of Swing Records have all homed tracks from Davide and this March he returns to Riva’s Snatch! Records following his 2023 ‘Hardgrooves’ EP.
‘Essence of House’ is a thundering kick-led groove with syncopated percussive hits and rave-like vocal stabs. The explanation of what makes a House track has been done before but this female breathy explanation sits well over the dizzying risers and chops synth lines. Sounds like an old Todd Terry beat.
‘Work The Klubb’ is a straight up jackin’ American 90’s affair. Think Mood II Swing on steroids. Bad man bass lines, spoken male vocals and sharp, bright percussion going horn stabs and police siren effects to create a punching groove that had us thinking of Daft Punk’s ‘Burnin’. Looping magic.
