Mark Broom has dropped one of our favourite EP’s of the year so far by the way of ‘Showtime’ on Radioslave’s Rekids.
A veteran producer, Mark Broom has been a pillar of the UK underground for over two decades. Working with labels like Warp, R&S, Soma, Blueprint and Mo’ Wax as well as running his own Pure Plastic label, Broom is a legend in the world of House and Techno. We’ve been big fans of his recent work with Riva Starr and this new EP on Rekids is a absolute weapon.
‘Klashjamz’ opens the EP up with the running ‘Disco Juice’ sample firing into the limelight coupled with gospel choir ad libs and some really great driving 4/4 drums. ‘Showtime’ is a cool, funky sax-led House groove with that Broom punch. ‘HighNRG’ is a pumping energetic number with bug synth leads and chopped up vocal snippets. ‘Jazz Ting’ is a raw jazz-infused House pumper with solid kicks, brazz rifts and deft piano chords.
The ‘Showtime’ EP is out now on Rekids. Buy it here on digital, vinyl out in March.
