Suleiman is a Canadian record label that is making its first release of 2024 with an impressive imprint debut from Doubtingthomas.

Doubtingthomas is a French DJ and producer who is well respected within the deep tech and minimal scene, and this release features three exceptional tracks. The EP’s title track “Clockwork” has some similarities to the haunting beauty of Mathew Jonson’s iconic classic “Marionette.”

This is the first time that Doubtingthomas has released on Suleiman, but he already has an accomplished back catalogue including music on labels ranging from Butane’s Little Helpers to his own imprint called The Promises.

First up is “Stop for a Minute,” which gets things moving with its murky atmosphere and flowing percussion. Its air raid siren-esque synth swells and rhythmic vocals merge with the drums to help give the track a trippy vibe.

Second on the EP, “Clockwork” is centred around an arpeggio line, which is accompanied by a live percussion loop and moody atmospherics. It’s a stunning track with a spellbinding style that will captivate any dance floor.

Third on the release, “Syncopation 1992” is a deep and stripped back track with delicate piano chords and spellbinding vocals, which are layered between shuffling hi-hats and a thumping kick drum.

Overall, it’s a great release with some nice variation, and you can buy a copy HERE.
