Colombian powerhouse Felipe Gordon returns to the ever-impressive Razor-N-Tape this January with the ‘Flutes Of Gold’ EP.
Hailing from Bogotá, Colombia known for its cobblestoned centre and colonial-era landmarks, Felipe Gordon is surely next as one of the best exports of the industrial city. Shall Not Fade, Toy Tonics, Clone Royal Oak, Razor-N-Tape, Local Talk, Heist and Nómada Records are just some of the names so far to have picked up releases from Felipe and his DJ sets are just as popular, if you haven’t seen it yet, check him out at Parisian Djoon club.
This new EP ‘Flutes Of Gold’ lands on JKriv and Aaron Dae’s ‘Razor-N-Tape’ and the two fir like hand in glove. Gordon’s seductive, sultry yet funky House grooves are spotlighted again by the label that’s brought to us the likes of Ron Basejam, Coeo, Yuksek and many more.
Kicking off with the title-track, the EP is a deep house groove laced with rhythmic percussive hits and jazz influenced organs and of course the very popular flute. ‘Right Beside Me’ is a laid-back, downtempo groove with low-slung beats, lazy jazz piano chords and wonderfully seductive vocal, so many textures to this one, pure class. ‘Homage To Bossa’ is next and probably our favourite. Rich in colour and sound, this fierce peacocking groove is a real head turner. The keys are phenomenal and so is the cool as bass line, thrown in a dazzling organ performance and we’re there! ‘Acid Party At Santa Barbara’ rounds off the EP in probing, excitable fashion. The squelches of the 303 crossed with solid static drum lines are coloured by rich, ghostly synth notes to make areal juxtaposed sound.
The ‘Flutes Of Gold’ EP drops on Razor-N-Tape from January 26th, 2024. Pre order here.
