IIlyus & Barrientos featuring Phebe Edwards’ ‘Wait’ on Big Love Records has recently dropped and it’s a bit of us.
Great to see vocal house making some moves in 2023, with disco tailing off and the 90’s house sound remerging, this new track from Scottish duo Illyus & Barrientos is set to be well received. Ultra, Snatch!, DFTD, Spinnin’, they’ve all seen fit to release the duo’s pumping house grooves and even the pied piper of house Mr. Pete Tong was that impressed he got the lads onto the Essential Mix on Radio 1, no mean feat!
This new cut ‘Wait’ see’s I&B join with sultry soul sister Phebe Edwards. Her vocals can be found on the likes of Riva Starr, Seamus Haji and Basement Jaxx productions. Sounding positively uplifting, ‘Wait’ is a solid 4/4 with loads of string arrangements, fiery horn shots and filtered drops. The piano is just enough to really flavour the mixture but Edwards vocal is irrepressible as she begs us all to just simply “Wait”.
