Master still at work Kenny Dope takes ‘La De Da’ by Wade Teo and Charles Rickards on a soulful, groovin’ House journey.
Originally released back in August on Nervous Records, these remixes from Kenny Dope of ‘La De Da’ by Wade Teo, Charles Rickards and featuring the vocal of Kameelah Waheed may have been slept on by many, including us. But, it’s not too late to savour this funky groove-laden EP from some of our scenes leading lights.
First up, is Kenny’s ˙Remix Main˙. With its coarse, portly drum work cradling cushioned keys and lush, hazy vocals – it’s a track as much about the elements at play, as it is the space in between them. Next up, Kenny drops his ˙O Gutta˙remix – a far bouncier affair, with versicolour, psych-overtones; irresistibly rhythmic vocals and warm bass murmurs. And finally – to wrap up this vitalising package in style – we have the Teo and Rickards ˙Original Mix˙ itself; with its dubby, stab-led bass; urgent, hat-driven drums and killer, acid-licked breaks – which permeate proceedings dynamically throughout.
The Kenny Dope remixes of ‘La De Da’ are out now here.
