Nordic House aficionado Intr0beatz returns to SlothBoogie this November armed with five deep, bubbling House grooves that make up the ‘Fokus’ EP.
Hailing from Indonesia but raised in Reykjavik since an early age, Intr0beatz is a new name to many but with nearly two decades of productions under his belt both as a artist and as part of the Icelandic band Forgotten Lores, it’s time you got familiar. Inspired by the likes of Mr.G, J.Dilla and MF DOOM, Intr0beatz soundscape is defined by MPC’s and dusty vinyl samples. You can hear this in tracks on labels like Moment Cinetique, Just Fine Records, Closer To Truth and Kid Fonque’s Stay True Sounds and now he returns to one of his 2021 stomping grounds SlothBoogie.
Slothboogie Recordings is one of London’s most established nu-breed labels. With many feathers to their bow such as a DJ collective, record label, radio show & regular party series, these guys have their fingers in every disco pie. Intr0beatz return this time moves from sister label SlothBoogie Jamz to it’s parent label ‘SlothBoogie’.
The EP opens with ‘Concentrate’ which is a dusty House groove that sits deep but brings with it a stylised deepness.’Homage’ is a laid-back groover with hissing hats, solo synth stabs and ethereal, breathy vocals coupled with bodiless flute whirs. ‘Use What U Got’ is a straight up nod to his heroes. That jackin’ raw beat is fierce, throw down the perfect speech and lead synth lines and this is a piece of pure perfection. ‘Dont U Ever’ is a dive back into the deep, with humming leads, chopped up vox snippets, and chunky kicks this is a late night roller. ‘Line’ round off the impressive EP with solemn chords placed over funky percussive work and warbled bass tones.
The ‘Fokus’ EP is out on SlothBoogie Recordings from November 3rd, 2023. Pre order here.
