An impressive Balearic EP from Residentes Balearicos and Ibiza legend Alfredo lands on Cala Tarida Musica this month.
Residentes Balearicos is a project founded by Luca Averna and Ale Doretto, both resident DJs in Ibiza hailing from Venice, Italy. Here they join Ibiza stalwart and something of a legend Alfredo for an EP of musical brilliance. Joined by Ibiza-based don Chris Coco and SIRS, this release has it all for the downtempo, Balearic lovers out there.
‘Sundown’ is a low-slung groove drenched in piano keys, warm organ grooves and a surprising vocal sample from ‘I Refuse (What You Want) by American vocalist Damon Trueitt. Chris Coco then does his thing with the ‘Mediterraneo remix’. Warming the tone with softer, rubbery kicks and sparse percussive rhythm, this one is for the terraces. There’s also the inclusion of ‘To The Bone Dub’ from Chris Coco which strips back the track to its main elements. SIRS then takes us on a boogaloo adventure reminiscent of Planet Rock. Piano on this one is first class!
